This is Tsegi Canyon where we live. The canyon is basically our front yard.. Well, maybe it's our backyard.. Either way, it's just absolutely beautiful. The day this picture was taken it was raining further back in the canyon.

With such beautiful surroundings, and us being as weird as we are - it just doesn't seem right to build a regular house.

Right now we're tossing ideas around about what way we are going to build our humble yet comfortable abode.

The original idea is to make our own concrete out of the surrounding sand/dirt/rock. This is our experiment so we want to go as natural as we can. Some of our inspiration comes from the ancient Anasazi people who were the 1st inhabitants to this canyon. Some of their structures (ruins) are still in place after hundreds of years. If we go traditional, we will most likely do a spin off of a Navajo Hogan (we live in one right now). Hogan's are actually really comfortable and don't ever seem to get too hot or too cold, even if the weather outside is extreme.

Another idea we are tossing around is going with a Cosanti style. I'm actually super excited about this style because it's so unique and it would be such a comfortable low-profile, and highly customizable living space.

We are so new to all of this, but we are going to jump right in and do the best we can with all of the resources available to us; other people's knowledge, using the many natural materials we have on hand right here around us, internet, our own creativity and etc...
